Trenton Carney Memorial Scholarship
The Trenton Carney Memorial Industrial Maintenance Scholarship was established to honor the life and legacy of Trenton Carney, a graduate of Florence-Darlington Technical College’s Industrial Maintenance Technology program.
Trent’s educational journey was not always easy. He often found the traditional classroom challenging and struggled to see where his strengths fit. Everything changed when he enrolled in the Industrial Maintenance program at Florence-Darlington Technical College. The hands-on learning environment allowed his natural talents to shine, and for the first time, he discovered a place where he felt confident, capable, and genuinely successful.
During his time at FDTC, Trent not only developed the technical skills that prepared him for his career, but he also formed lifelong friendships with classmates who became like family. The program gave him more than an education. It gave him confidence, purpose, and a sense of belonging.
Outside of school and work, Trent loved spending time on the water fishing, enjoyed playing video games with friends, and was an exceptionally talented guitar player. He was known for his kind heart, his loyalty to those he loved, and his ability to bring laughter to those around him. Those who knew him remember someone who genuinely cared about others and cherished time with family and friends.
This scholarship was created to honor Trent’s memory by supporting students pursuing the same path that helped transform his life. It is intended to encourage students who work hard, persevere through challenges, and discover their own strengths through skilled trades and hands-on learning.
Our family’s hope is that every recipient remembers that success is not defined by how someone learns, but by their determination, character, and willingness to keep moving forward. Trent’s story is a reminder that sometimes the right opportunity can change a person’s life. Through this scholarship, we hope his legacy continues to encourage students to believe in themselves, embrace their unique strengths, and pursue their dreams with confidence.
Preference is given to students who demonstrate financial need.
